Aquatic Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy when provided in a water medium is a wonderful tool to promote strengthening, cardiovascular endurance, and tone normalization without using balance compromising exercises or activities.

Dr. Kimberly Roach, DPT has an aquatic certification through ATRIC since 2013. She uses the buoyancy and hydrostatic pressure of the water to provide physical therapy to her patients, by appointment only.

Community Location:

Lambright Sports and Wellness Center pool

The Lambright Sports and Wellness Center boasts an indoor lap pool and outdoor pool. The indoor pool has a handicap accessible ramp leading to the wash lane that is a 4ft depth, which is often where our aquatic sessions will be. In the warmer months, the outdoor pool makes a great location too!

Aquatic Physical therapy leverages the warm water’s buoyancy and hydrostatic pressure to reduce spasticity/hypertonia, improve muscular strength and flexibility, enhance mobility, and increase circulation. It is especially beneficial for those children with neurological conditions who are greatly challenged by land activities due to lack of balance and body awareness, as falling is not really a consideration in the water.

Get In Touch

We offer Aquatic Physical Therapy sessions during the summer months, June-August by appointment only. For new patients, an evaluation is needed prior to beginning aquatics.
